This paper is a brief review of recent data related to the use of angle-resolved electron stimulated desorption and photon stimulated desorption in determinig the structures of molecules at surfaces. Examples include a variety of structural assignments based on ESDIAD (electron stimulated desorption ion angular distributions), the observation of short-range local ordering effects induced in adsorbed molecules by surface impurities, and the application of photon stimulated desorption to both ionic and covalent adsorbate systems.
